Dr. Raca is interested in cytogenetic and molecular diagnostics of genetic disorders. Her major focus is on clinical application of latest molecular techniques including gene sequencing, real time quantitative PCR, methylation sensitive PCR and array-CGH.
Dr. Raca's research is focused on cytogenetic and molecular diagnostic techniques, and genetic causes of stillbirth and congenital eye anomalies. Her collaborative study with Dr. Lisa Schimmenti from the University of Minnesota uses advanced genomic techniques of high resolution comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) and massively parallel next generation sequencing (NGS) to search for mutations in new candidate genes for anophthalmia, microphthalmia and coloboma.
