Jane Shepard has been involved in higher education for more than 25 years, predominantly in the areas of admissions and counseling. After spending many years working in the area of international admissions, she has entered the challenging and rewarding field of medical school admissions. She now serves as Director of MD Admissions for the School of Medicine and Public Health. Jane truly enjoys advising all types of students – undergraduate, graduate, or non-traditional – as they explore their options and pursue their educational goals. She also has served on a number of campus-wide committees, working with various departments and programs on issues related to academic affairs and student services.
Her vision-related interests include helping to provide outreach and educational opportunities to various groups across campus and in the community. Jane would also like to identify faculty, staff, and students who would be able to contribute to the mission of MERI. Lastly, as a person with a vision disability, she would like to help develop programs or resources to assist others with vision disabilities as they adjust to physical, social, and psychological changes in their lives.
