Research Interests
Dr. Chen’s research uses psychophysical methodology to study the structural-functional relationship of the visual pathway. She is interested in investigating and developing psychophysical methods to assess visual function. She has had experience in using pupil light reflex as one of the approaches in studying the optic nerve function, and currently has a pupil research lab housed in the University Station Clinic. (The structural measurement of the optic nerve is achieved by using Optical Coherence Tomography, or OCT). Dr. Chen is collaborating on a project with neurosurgery researchers, investigating the role of OCT in predicting visual outcome in patients who sustain optic nerve injury from skull base tumors.
