Biography

Keywords: Stem cell science, optic nerve degeneration, gene editing, spastic paraplegia

Education
BS 1997, Brown University, Providence, RI
PhD 2002, University of California–San Diego, San Diego, CA
Postdoctoral position: Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research

Research Interests
Complicated forms of spastic paraplegia often result in optic atrophy, although a mechanistic understanding of this phenomenon remains unclear. The Audhya lab has generated a new rodent model of this disease using CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing and aims to understand the underlying causes of optic nerve degeneration.
