Talk Title: Color coded: How our brains paint the world with meaning

Abstract: Humans aren’t alone: Much of life on Earth can sense color, including ancient single-cell organisms and plants. I will discuss a diversity of color-perception strategies across the animal kingdom, before turning to humans specifically. What makes us special is our big brains — and all the heavy lifting they do to make and use color.

Preceding the lecture will be a poster session from 2:45-5:20 pm in the WIMR lobby. For more information or to present a poster, please see the event page here.
