Andrew Miller, PhD

Credentials: Department of Neuroscience
(School of Medicine and Public Health)

Position title: Postdoctoral Researcher

Email: ahmiller2@wisc.edu

Website: Sinha Lab

Advisor: Raunak Sinha, PhD

Keywords: Macular and peripheral retina, retinal ganglion cells, retinal development, single-cell electrophysiology, and
electroretinography

Education:
BS 2011, Biology with Neurobiology Option, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI
PhD 2021, Neuroscience Training Program, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI

Research Interests:
Dr. Miller is interested in how neural circuits in the retina develop and function to process visual information. He began studying the retina as a graduate student, where he characterized how a gene called pappaa regulates synapses between cone photoreceptors and OFF bipolar cells for signaling light decrements. As a postdoctoral researcher, he joined the Sinha lab to study how the macula is specialized to process high-acuity central vision.
