Research Interests
Dr. Brilliant’s major research areas include disorders of vision, such as albinism, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and glaucoma. He has identified three genes associated with albinism (OCA2, OCA4, and HPS1) and has played a major role in the first studies aimed at developing treatments for the vision problems associated with albinism. Dr. Brilliant has an appointment as adjunct faculty with the UW Laboratory of Genetics, and serves as an Associate Director of ICTR.
