Research
Dr. Lipinski’s interest lies in the development of safe and effective gene therapy treatments to prevent
vision loss in people who have inherited or vascular diseases affecting their eye. To this end,
his research focuses on the engineering of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vectors
to target cells of the retina and ocular vasculature, the elucidation of novel gene-based
therapeutics to prevent cone photoreceptor loss or vascular dysfunction, and the evaluation of
strategies to restore vision to the degenerate retina. He is particularly
interested in establishing collaborators at UW-Madison, including providing purified rAAV
vectors for vision research applications.
