Research
I do research at the intersection of computational neuroscience and philosophy, contributing to the development of Integrated Information Theory (IIT) and its application to the scientific study of consciousness. In my work I apply IIT’s formalism to investigate how conscious experience can be accounted for as an intrinsic causal structure specified by its neural substrate. I focus especially on the structure of visual experience—how configurations of low-level features are bound to visual space to yield the experience of invariant visual objects—as well as the structure of other contents such as color and temporal flow.
