Dr. Ip came to Doheny Eye Institute in 2016 from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health with two missions – to further local and international eye health with clinical research, and as the new medical director of the Doheny Image Reading Center (DIRC), to expand its research enterprise. With respect to clinical care, Dr. Ip emphasizes patient education, believing that this is essential to achieving the best treatment outcomes.
Dr. Ip’s areas of clinical and research expertise include diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal vein occlusion. He is the author of numerous journal articles and book chapters and is a leader in the field.
