Research
Jacki Whisenant is an entomologist, scientific illustrator, and educator who is fascinated by bats, bones, and anything with six legs. He has a passion for natural history museums and actively volunteers in any collection that provides a welcoming space. Raised in Madison, WI, Jack studied music and art before moving out to CA to complete the Science Illustration program at California State University–Monterey Bay. Bolstered by this experience, he dove into the study of beetles with Dan Young at UW–Madison and recently completed a MS in Entomology. Currently happily employed as a (temporary) museum minion at Cornell University, Jack also maintains a freelancing studio practice of scientific illustration, as well as teaching online classes and workshops through UW–Madison, WI Academy, and others. It is a fond hope to stay connected with natural history museums and the vital work they do for conservation efforts worldwide.
