Research
Anna is broadly interested in comparative retina neurobiology and fundamental principles of phototransduction. Her PhD research is focused on melanopsin phototransduction, particularly in primates across different developmental time points. This will include looking for functional ipRGC subtypes and
classifying them with electrophysiology and immunohistochemistry. Her master’s degree thesis was focused on exploring monoamine GPCRs in the octopus visual system, in particular looking for dopamine-binding GPCR candidates, deorphanizing them, and exploring their localization within layers of the optic lobe in conjunction with neurotransmitters and other receptors.
