Research:
Niemeier is a graduate student in biomedical engineering at UW-Madison. His interests include Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging of the eye (corneal and retinal), and characterizing the scattering of the sclera and new diagnostic metrics for glaucoma. His specific research objectives include monitoring early cancer development using polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT); fabricating optical phantoms to model multiscale optical scattering in tissue; developing optical detection methods to inform on biological processes and mechanisms; and designing cutting-edge optical instrumentation from concept to a clinic/lab-ready product.
