Research summary
The Scalabrino Lab investigates retinal circuitry changes that occur during inherited retinal diseases and in response to biological therapies such as gene therapy, regeneration, and cell replacement. We use a variety of techniques to accomplish this goal, aiming for a wholistic picture of retinal health and function. These include electrophysiology (multielectrode array retina recordings, electroretinography), live animal retinal imaging (optical coherence tomography, fundoscopy), histology (confocal microscopy), molecular biology (viral vectors, gene editing, RNA sequencing), and behavior (prey capture).
