Research
Ahna Skop’s research program examines the mechanisms that regulate asymmetric cell division. Her ultimate goal is to understand how membrane trafficking events contribute to cell asymmetry and cytokinesis. The work in her lab integrates several approaches from genetics, cell biology, genomics and proteomics accompanied with high resolution in vivo microscopy to accomplish these goals. Professor Skop has also been integrally involved in organizing exhibitions of scientific images as works of art, including the year-long exhibit “Tiny: Art from Microscopes at UW-Madison” in 2009.
Skop is a founder of the Stem Diversity Network at UW-Madison.
