Research
Yanan Wang’s research interests pertain to investigating the needs of people with visual impairments and resolving the gap between their needs and available technologies by building usable systems and algorithms. She applies machine learning models in developing methods to better support people with visual impairments in accessing information. She has contributed to research that analyzes the questions people with visual impairments would ask when given images to develop models to classify the questions by required computer vision techniques. She has also conducted many human subject studies to further understand how people with visual impairments interact with systems.
