Grant Summit Program Opportunity 2020

McPherson ERI members are invited to avail themselves of this funding opportunity – detailed guidelines and an application form are linked.

The McPherson ERI Grant Summit Program seeks to increase support for UW-Madison vision research by facilitating successful resubmissions of federal grant applications. Grant Summit Program guidelines and the application form provide details.  Applications are welcomed at any time and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis with no internal deadlines nor pre-determined grant quotas.

Designed to be a simple mechanism whereby McPherson ERI members who “just miss” federal agency funding cut-offs can obtain support to address issues raised by reviewers (e.g., study section), thus increasing their odds for successful resubmissions.

Nearly $40,000 has been provided to five members in the past two years, advancing their successful resubmissions. We hope that others will apply while funds are available in 2020.

The GSP applicant should submit:
1. The grant score/summary sheet.
2. A targeted, fit-for-purpose budget request (up to $10,000) along with a brief explanation of how the requested funding will improve the revised proposal (1 paragraph).
3. A brief comment on the proximity of the applicant’s grant score to historical pay-lines and/or other insights regarding the likelihood of successful resubmission (1-3 sentences).
